Anne and John Gilheany Scholarship

Anne and John Gilheany Scholarship

Salisbury University faculty members, Eileen Gilheany and Jim Forte, have seen and continue to see everyday how Salisbury University makes a difference and contributes in a caring way to the growth of staff, students and their families, faculty, the town of Salisbury, the region, and to the flourishing of so many other people and social systems. Eileen and Jim offer this scholarship in memory of Anne and John Gilheany, Eileen’s parents. Anne and John exemplified, too, in their words and deeds the value of care, specifically, “direct care for vulnerable persons.” This is one of the central values of the profession of social work, and the scholarship will be offered each year to a first-generation, undergraduate, rising senior who is a social work major with a grade point average above 3.0 and who has demonstrated a similar commitment to caring for others.
