Caruthers Memorial Scholarship

James and Gwynette Caruthers both pursued education degrees at Salisbury State University. Their degrees took them all over the east coast, with Dr. James Caruthers teaching higher education at multiple universities, and Mrs. Caruthers teaching in both higher education and the public schools with a focus on special programs and child psychology. They both were active members of Salisbury State’s Alumni Association. The two passed away in an automobile accident in 1991. This memorial was established to honor both Dr. and Mrs. Caruthers for their love of education and Salisbury University.
