Colonel Meta M. Mills Nursing Scholarship
The late Colonel Meta Mildred Mills, a veteran of the United States Air Force (USAF) Nurse Corps, was named Head Nurse for the United States Astronaut Program in 1963. Working her way through the military ranks, Colonel Mills exemplified the nursing profession. As a graduate of Cambridge, MD, hospital’s nursing program, she continued her service in the field of nursing by entering the USAF in 1950. Twenty-five years later, Colonel Meta Mills retired.
The United States of America honors the memory of Meta Mildred Mills, July 3, 1929 – May 24, 2010, who devoted her life selfless to the service of our country in the Armed Forces.
The Colonel Meta M. Mills Nursing Scholarship is awarded to students who are enrolled full-time in the Doctorate of Nursing program at Salisbury University. The recipient must demonstrate financial need from FAFSA and have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. The scholarship is awarded through the Department of Nursing and is non-renewable.
