Jared Young Music Scholarship
Jared Young had a genuine appreciation and curiosity for music composition. It started when he was young. He got his first guitar (acoustic) when he was 8 or 9 and he worked hard in lessons and on his own to learn how to play. He never stopped working. He was going to be a rock star. Jared was also a good student. He excelled in math and science, but music was his favorite subject. He got good grades, played music and enjoyed life. It ultimately brought him to the Music Department at Salisbury University. He found a new home there and thought of his professors and classmates as a second family. His music family.
Jared graduated with his degree in music in 2011. He played in a band for a couple of years but was experiencing continuing issues with his health. After his death in 2017; we, his parents and grandparents, wanted to create a memorial to honor his legacy of hard work and dedication. Salisbury University was the perfect place for the Jared Young Music Scholarship. His former professors continue to show tremendous support and new students are continuing where he left off.
