Richard A. Henson School of Science and Technology

Richard A. Henson was many things, a pilot, a businessman, a visionary. As his distinguished career in aviation was winding down, he turned his attention and enthusiasm to philanthropy, establishing the Richard A. Henson Foundation, Inc.
Though Mr. Henson’s formal education concluded with a high school diploma, he developed an intense curiosity and determination to educate himself throughout his life. For that reason, he became a well-respected and influential leader in many areas of business and society. He regarded higher education as another step in personal and professional development. It is, perhaps, the reason one of his early gifts was to establish the Henson School of Science and Technology at Salisbury University (then Salisbury State College). A provision of that gift also endowed a fund for scholarships which has now provided approximately 300 students with scholarship funding.
More recent gifts led to the creation of the Richard A. Henson Medical Simulation Center, significant enhancements to Henson Scholarship and Undergraduate Research Endowment Funds, development of a Science and Math Honors Program and updates within the Henson School of Science and Technology.
