Richard L. Nelson Memorial Scholarship

Richard (Rick) Nelson was a military veteran, a computer programmer for the IRS, a longtime resident of Bowie, MD and a loving and devoted father to three children. He was a firm believer in the power of education to create opportunities, a proud member of the Bowie community, and one of the most thoughtful, giving, and selfless individuals you might ever meet. When Rick passed away in 2018, his family wanted to remember him in a way that honored his generosity and passion for learning. While not an alumnus of Salisbury himself, he was delighted to support his daughter (class of 2001) and eldest Grandson (class of 2021) in their studies at SU. We honored Rick with the creation of this scholarship, so that other students from Prince George’s County might share in his generosity, continue in their studies, and one day share their passion for education with future generations.
