The Reilly Family International Internship

The Reilly Family International Internship

This scholarship is intended to help inspire life-changing experiences abroad through an international internship for SU juniors or seniors. It is funded by SU alum Stephen Reilly (’96) and his wife, Emily Merson, who met Sweden while completing their Master’s degree in Peace & Conflict Studies. Stephen was the first Fulbright student grantee from SU, and Emily grew up in Australia and had completed an internship at UNESCO in Indonesia before arriving in Sweden.

After getting married, the couple went on to form Global Experiences, an international internship company that has sent over 10,000 university students abroad, including over 100 from SU, gaining invaluable international personal, professional, and cultural immersion experience. Global Experiences was acquired by AIFS Abroad in 2019, which continues to provide study and internship abroad opportunities for SU students across the globe.
