Crisfield Lioness/Lions Club Virginia Puffinburger Scholarship Fund

This is a tuition grant of up to $1,000 for the academic year, paid directly to the institution upon verification of enrollment as a full-time student for their second semester or beyond. For the complete details and application please CLICK HERE

Eligibility Criteria:
1. One thousand dollars is available for scholarship(s) to be awarded yearly in the spring, to either a person that is:
a. At least 18 years of age, graduate of Crisfield Academy and High School or Holly Grove Christian School who reside in the Crisfield (21817), Smith Island (21866 or 21824), Marion (21838) or Westover (21871) areas

or

b. Completion of GED, former student @ either of the above listed schools and a resident of Somerset County for at least 1 year.

2. The recipient(s) must meet all application requirements and may reapply by meeting the same requirements.
3. The applicant(s) must be officially accepted and enrolled for the second semester or beyond into a program or course of study at an accredited educational institution in the U.S. as a full-time student.
4. The applicant(s) must show evidence of having maintained a 3.25 scholastic average.
5. The applicant(s) must exhibit evidence of citizenship by active participation in service clubs, church, or civic activities. Documentation of same must be presented in reference letters from said clubs, church or civic activity representative or coordinator.

Application Requirements:
1. The applicant(s) must be either:
a. At least 18 years of age, graduate of Crisfield Academy and High School or Holly Grove Christian School who reside in the Crisfield (21817), Smith Island (), Marion (21838) or Westover (21871) areas

or

b. Completion of GED, former student @ either of the above listed schools and a resident of Somerset County for at least 1 year.

2. The applicant(s) must submit all of the following documents/criteria to either of the addresses below and have met the eligibility procedures before being considered for an interview and final selection of scholarship funding made by the Lioness/Lions Scholarship committee:
a. Receipt of completed application form. All materials must be submitted by May 1st.
b. Provide a cover letter that summarizes professional goals and objectives, as well as personal achievements which may include church, civic groups, or community service. Include military service if applicable.
c. Receipt of two letters of personal recommendations (non-relative).
d. Receipt of two letters of scholastic recommendation from college educators.
e. Submit a resume of past or present job experience if applicable.
f. Receipt of official transcript for any schooling in the past five years plus your high school transcript or GED certificate. All transcripts must be mailed directly from the institution or certification verified by the issuing source.

3. Applications and all required documents must be mailed and postmarked to the Scholarship Committee (see address below) by May 1st of each year.
