Institute for Retired Persons (IRP) Scholarship

The Institute for Retired Persons (IRP) provides up to three Salisbury University students scholarships for the upcoming academic year. Minimum eligibility requirements include: full-time senior status for the upcoming award period; cumulative GPA 2.80; financial need from the FAFSA and short essay. Open to all majors. This is a non-renewable scholarship but you may reapply.

Since this scholarship requires FAFSA and financial need, final consideration of applications submitted will be to students who demonstrate financial need from the FAFSA once we have the data loaded in the scholarship site in late January. You may be removed from consideration if you do not have financial need as determined by the FAFSA.

The Institute of Retired Persons (IRP) offers programs to enable members to learn for the joy of learning by sharing the experience and the knowledge of other members and of visiting speakers; to provide members opportunities for physical exercise and social activities through member-led clubs and events; and to encourage and support the University in scholarship, programs, projects, and outreach activities that are particularly appropriate to the needs and interests of Salisbury University students and of senior citizens. IRP members meet every Tuesday at 2 pm during the University’s fall and spring semesters at the MAC Center. The recipients of the scholarship will be invited to and should make every effort to attend the first IRP meeting of the fall semester in September to be formally recognized by the organization.
