Dr. Charles F. "Charlie" Smith, Jr. Music Scholarship

This scholarship is being established in honor of Charlie Smith’s dedication to music, in the city of Salisbury, MD and in celebration of his 90th birthday. From his time as director of James M. Bennet High School Band and then as Director of Bands at Salisbury State College (now Salisbury University) and as a performer with the Salisbury Community Band, Charlie has left a lasting impression teaching, conducting, and performing. This scholarship will provide funding to students with the following restrictions (in order of preference):

• Must be a full-time undergraduate student majoring in Music
• Must be an active member of the Salisbury University orchestra or concert band
• Preference given to Music Education majors
